Little Tommy stands and stares at all the Christmas toys under the tree in the store window. Then he looks up at the first star to appear in the cold night sky. Maybe if I wish hard enough, he thought, Santa will remember me and bring me a toy truck, and maybe even a puppy.

What do you mean I'm not a puppy? |
Written for Friday Flash 55
I hope Tommy's Christmas wishes come true...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Sophie - you can see her great character just looking at her lovely face :)
My daughter's been making that wish for years now. Luckily Santa knows better.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda .. good 55 - how many kids wish for a kitten or a puppy .. & the toy truck ..
ReplyDeleteI wish for everyone's wishes and prayers to come true .. Hilary
ha. hopefully he gets his wish...a new puppy...how fun that would be..smiles.
ReplyDeleteWe have two dogs and have to make sure the ornaments on the lower branches of our Christmas tree aren't fragile ones.
ReplyDeleteNice 55, Linda!
Tommy wanted a puppy but got a cat who acts like a puppy instead. Funny 55.
ReplyDeleteMy 55 is HERE .
Talon- It would be nice to think that all kids' wishes come true. Sophie is quite a character. I forgot to mention that she also like to chew on things like pens, cell phone holders, whatever is within reach.
ReplyDeleteAlice Audrey- Awww, every kid needs a pet at sometime in their childhood, if possible.
Hilary- Thanks. I had cats when I was a kid, and we've had at least one ever since we've been married (23 years). Hubby had a wonderful cat named Charlie when we met, and we had him until 1997.
Brian Miller- Puppies and kittens - they are so cute, aren't they?
Eric Alder- Yeah, we had to do that when we had Charlie (see above comment). He would play with the ones on the low branches, take them off and chew on them, etc.
Monkey Man- Glad you liked it. Although it's just a made up story, the idea of a cat acting like a puppy is quite real. She's a funny girl.
Sophie is a beautiful puppy! and I hope Tommy gets what his heart desires!
ReplyDeleteso now this prooves that cats have christmas wishes as well...smiles
ReplyDeleteI have a short story I'm writing about a child who wistfully looks at the gifts under all her friend's trees- knowing there wont be any
ReplyDeletesadly that's the message of the times but love will always be there :)
great 55
Linda...
ReplyDeleteThis was so sweet.
I loved your 55.
Loved your "puppy" pic.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G
Linda,
ReplyDeleteI love this 55 and perfect for the season. I agree with Talon. I hope he gets his wish.
I also enjoyed the note about your cat...that's funny:~)
Awww what a sweetie. I love that face!
ReplyDeleteLinda- Thanks, she is a sweetie, but totally a Tortie.
ReplyDeleteClaudia- Thanks for visiting. I guess we all have wishes!
moondustwriter- Congrats on the story! I know times are tough, but hopefully many wishes still come true.
G-Man- Thanks, glad you liked it. I am enjoying the 55's. Hope you have a great weekend too. We had snow today.
Sara- Thank you. About Sophie, yes she is funny. We heard she was raised with dogs, so maybe that explains some of her behaviors. She is awfully sweet, but totally a Tortie.
Hilary- Yes she is - she's adorable, but unique and all Tortie. She is her Daddy's girl.
Have you seen that YouTube video that shows someone actually wrapping a cat in wrapping paper? It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe cat is really cool and mellow and it sits there while the person wraps it (keeping the head out of the wrapping paper), puts a bow on the cat's head and then unwraps the cat.
That really is what I want for Christmas -- a real kitty wrapped or not but my kid is allergic to cats and has asthma so I can't get one until she moves out of the house and that'll be at least 10-15 years from now since she's only 10.
Still, I can dream.
hahahah.. li'l got his wish alright.. he just doesn't know it yet :)
ReplyDeleteprayers for him.
ReplyDeletelingering 55.
well put.
Cardiogirl- No, I haven't seen that video - I'll have to look it up. So sorry you can't have a kitty or three. They are such great company. I have one in my lap helping me type right now.
ReplyDeleteKavita- Yes, Sophie makes a great puppy! She's a pretty neat cat, too.
Jingle Poetry- Thank you.
